Statement of Intent:

Our Vision:
A place where our children, adults and community can grow and thrive rooted in
Kindness, Fellowship and Confidence.

At Stanhope Barrington C of E Primary School, we understand that learning another language gives children the opportunity to develop a positive attitude towards other languages and cultures other than their own. By teaching French, we can learn about not only the language, but the Geography, culture, music and stories of France. The children are taught in exciting and stimulating sessions that gives them the confidence, from an early age, to begin to explore, experiment and enjoy speaking another language. As the children move through school, they develop their French speaking and listening skills before beginning to apply these in writing.

As our school is based in an isolated rural community it is important that we expose them to other cultures and take every opportunity to invite visitors and parents to enhance this curriculum area. Using high quality linguistic resources which expose the children to native French speakers.
