This week (commencing 4th May) our children in school have been learning about and celebrating VE Day. Officially VE Day is on Friday but as there is no-one booked in for the bank holiday, we are giving our team a well-deserved break.
As such, on Wednesday we had a celebration VE lunch, planned and prepared by Derrick Mann our cook during this period. As always he went the extra mile, with props, table settings, china and Union Jack napkins. The children had helped by creating individualised place mats and the beautiful tables were finished off with red roses.
Our staff and children came into school wearing red, white and blue and even our special guest – Mr Paul Rickeard (CEO of the Trust) joined in too!
The children took part in a wide range of exciting activities all linked to VE Day including: making moving toys, a Remembrance wreath (which is displayed in the main window) and doing research about what life was like for children during the war.
The children and staff created an phenomenal display of work and activities in the hall and had a thoroughly great time doing it!
